Youth 5-16: $65-100, Adult: $95-130, FREE belt testing and belts Beginners 4-6 yrs: $60 WHAT IS THE ENROLLMENT FEE? $50, includes a uniform HOW MUCH DOES THE EQUIPMENT COST? $0 ($150 when able to join the sparring class, but it's optional) SHORT TERM MEMBERSHIP? YES. 1, 3, or 12 month options 1 YOUTH STUDENT for 3 MONTHS = $270. FAMILY DISCOUNTS? YES, about ~33% for 2nd student, ~50% for 3rd MILITARY DISCOUNTS? YES, ~10% SELF DEFENSE FITNESS CLASSES? 5 classes for $60, 10 for $100 or 15 for $125 over a 3-6 month period of use HIGHEST STANDARDS FOR EXCELLENCE? YES, Japan Karate Association member dojo EXPERT INSTRUCTORS? YES. Over 30 years training in the JKA & internationally certified, and 2 instructors are CT certified public school teachers with a good understanding about how people of all ages learn and how to navigate various obstacles associated with different learning styles. GROUND FIGHTING? SOME. You learn devastating blocks/strikes/kicks and optimal positioning from opponents, but you learn to sweep, fall, and defend from the ground KIDS TEACHING KIDS? NO. Advanced teens only assist and inspire younger students FAMILIES TRAIN TOGETHER? YES, we offer combined classes and family discounts DOES THE INSTRUCTOR STILL PRACTICE? All of our instructors actively practice, some still competing in tournaments. It is a life-lengthening journey of fun and fitness. CHANGE STYLES AND TEACHING METHODOLOGIES? This is meant for interested people to get a sense of what is out there. As a consumer you should know who is teaching you or your children and what the financial expectations are. Rarely do other establishments print their fees, and rarely do you know much about the instructors professional and personal background. These are 3 of the most important questions you want answered. We feel that you not only get the best martial art instruction in New London County, but that the price is hard to beat. You don't have to pay more to get more. And we're only 10-15 minutes from Norwich, Waterford and New London.
This dojo was conceived with the consumer in mind for the betterment of a community through individuals' sincere effort towards personal achievement. As a proud owner of a karate dojo, I believe we are the best and the best value, but it may not be best for you. As a savvy consumer I always shop around for the best and the best value as should you, and you know what's best when you are properly informed.
